Finance minister on Tuesday dated September 11th has issed a notification that Rs 100 coin will be introduced soon commemorate the birth centenary of Dr. MG Ramachandra.
Dr. Ramachandran, popularly known as ‘MGR’, was the founder of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party, currently ruling in Tamil Nadu.
A Popular film actor and a popular Chief Minister of Tamilnadu was also awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1988.
New Rs 100 Coin will be made by using 50% Silver, 40% Copper,5% nical and Zinc.
It is also reported that the obverse of the Rs. 100 coin will bear “Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar” in the center along with “Satyamev Jayate” inscribed below on it. It will also bear the symbol of the rupee and denominational value “100”. On the reverse side.
New Agency PTI reports the along with Rs 100 coin, new Rs 5 coin will also be issued by government.The Rs 100 coin will weigh around 35 grams, while Rs 5 coins will weigh 6 grams.
